I love autumn. It’s my favorite of the four seasons, and I’ve downloaded countless images to use as my phone background over the years that say “Hello, Fall” or something along those lines. However, when I was looking through my weekly photos and had to click on the “10.1.17” folder to get to the pics, it really hit me that it is, in fact, October. So, here are three reasons why I find that so hard to believe!
Late September was hot.
Leading up to October, at least in Central Illinois, it usually cools down at least a little bit. But this year, we were still hitting 90° on September 25th and 26th. The past two years, the last dates above 90 were September 8th in 2015 and Sept. 7th in 2016 so that’s quite a difference from the 26th. By the time October 1st rolls around, I just feel like the 90’s should be a distant memory, but that certainly wasn’t the case this year.
I can’t possibly be graduating in two months… can I?
I also can’t believe it’s October because that means I graduate from college in two short months. Eek! It’s crazy to think about. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so excited to be done with my undergrad. I want to start a new chapter of my life. But freshman biology wasn’t actually three years ago, was it?
If it’s October, that means my little brother is *supposed to be* filling out college applications.
For those of you who don’t know, I have an 18-year-old brother named Jared. He’s a senior at the same small high school I graduated from in Texas, valedictorian of his class, president of a bunch of clubs, etc., but here’s the thing. He can’t even decide where to apply to college. It’s driving me crazy, and as a result, I’m pretty sure my texts are driving him crazy. All of that aside, it’s just strange that the little kid I grew up with is now going to be filling out college applications.
