Today, like many bloggers, I wanted to take a step back and talk about some of the things I’m thankful for at this stage in my life.  Since last Thanksgiving I’ve had a ton of positive changes in my life, so I wanted to share them in a tangible way here.

First, this site.

For those of you who don’t know, I bought the domain and started this site at the end of this past April.  It took a while for me to gather my thoughts, learn how everything worked, and actually start posting content, so it actually didn’t go live until the beginning of October.  However, in the past two months, this site has brought so much into my life.  I’ve interacted and started following people in totally different stages of life, locations, and career fields than me.  I now have a “creative outlet” that so many bloggers talk about.  I’ve realized that it’s possible to have a career in one field and a completely unrelated blog to fulfill multiple passions and interests you may have.  And, those are just the major points.  So, to say I’m thankful that I started is probably an understatement.

My boyfriend.

It’s funny to think about, but a year ago Dominic and I were just friends that had talked about dating, but hadn’t quite gotten there yet.  Now, we’ve been together for a little over ten months!  He’s been incredibly supportive with my every changing plans, and I appreciate having him in my life like this every day.

Job offers.

Some of you may have noticed that I’ve been a little AWOL lately, both on here and on Instagram.  There are a few reasons for that: one being that I graduate in less than a month and have a lot going on with school, another that I’ve been sick for the past three weeks, and lastly that I’ve been interviewing for full-time jobs (which, let me tell you, is no easy feat while sick).  I’ve received three different job offers in the past week and a half, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to choose between three amazing companies, as difficult as the upcoming decision may be.

My current job.

I may have mentioned this before, but I’ve worked in the Office of Admissions at Illinois State University since the beginning of my freshman year of college.  I’ve had the same (amazing) manager the entire time, and I could write an entire post on how great she is.  She’s always been encouraging, there for me to talk to, understanding when I’m overwhelmed, and incredibly caring.  I also have worked with some amazing people.  They value my skillset and opinion (or at least make it seem like they do!), give honest advice whenever I ask for guidance, and have become people I know I’ll keep in contact with for years to come.  I also have really enjoyed the work I’ve done in the Office of Admissions, which is something else I’m thankful for since not everyone can say that about their college job.

My family.

I don’t see my family often.  I see my extended family every few years at Thanksgiving, at the occasional cousin wedding, and randomly if someone is driving through Illinois.  As far as immediate family goes, my parents and brother live in Texas, while I go to school in Illinois, so it’s not exactly an easy weekend trip.  However, I’m thankful for the love and support they’ve always given me, and I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

My friends.

This year, like most, has helped me realize who my true friends are.  Some are new friends I’ve found through blogging, and others are the friends that have stuck around for yet another year of life.  Near or far, I feel like I have the best friends around, and I’m thankful for every one of them.

There are many other things that I’m thankful for, but these are the first few I thought of and I’m really tired, so I’m going to leave it at that.  I hope you each have an amazing Thanksgiving, and find some really great deals tomorrow on Black Friday!

With love,
